The historic decision is expected to trigger a fresh spasm of violence in the Middle East.
“I’ve determined that it’s time to officially recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,” the US leader said in a speech from the White House.
Earlier, HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani had received a telephone call from the US President on Wednesday evening, according to

During the phone call, which was more about bilateral relations, Trump also informed HH The Emir about his intention to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
HH The Emir warned Trump of the serious repercussions of this step, which would further complicate the situation in the Middle East and negatively affect the security and stability in the region.
Later, HH The Emir and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed Trump’s decision and its serious consequences for security and stability in the region, in a telephonic conversation.
The Turkish president informed the Emir that he would call for an emergency summit in Istanbul for member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in this regard. The Emir welcomed the holding of the summit, reported ahona.tk
Meanwhile, the regular Cabinet meeting, presided over by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, expressed concern over the US plan, according to another report in noakhalinews7.tk
The cabinet also reaffirmed Qatar’s support for the national and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and their right of establishing an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
